Glen Fosslyn Droughtmaster Stud

The Glen Fosslyn Droughtmaster Stud was founded in 1988 with the D1 classification of selected purebred Droughtmaster Glen Fosslyn commercial females.

Droughtmaster sires were used exclusively in the commercial herd from 1975 until the foundation of the Stud. During the 1990's the sires Clonlara Noah, Giunda 125 and Garthowen Yellow had had a major influence on the Stud, contributing towards the Stud’s reputation of producing large framed, well proportioned cattle at an early age.

Flinders River Catchment, North West Queensland.

North Queensland’s Flinders catchment, comprising an area of approximately, 109,000km², drains into the southern Gulf of Carpentaria. Its population of approximately 6000 people is engaged mainly in pastoralism, but tourism, mining and commercial fishing make important contributions to the economy. Dryland and irrigated cropping currently occupy less than 0.02% of the landscape. In the Flinders catchment, farm dams could support 10,000 to 20,000 ha of irrigation in 70 to 80% of years.

The Richmond Raceecourse, North West Queensland is home to many annual events on the local community calendar. Many are organised by the Richmond Turf Club which host four Racing Queensland Race Meetings a year, the biggest being the June meeting that is run in conjunction with their annual event Richmond Field Days. The formation of the Richmond Turf Club in 1956 was to promote registered race clubs in the west and to form a circuit from Mt Isa to Charters Towers.

The Richmond Turf Club organises all four professional race meetings held at the Richmond Racecourse and is a part of Racing Queensland. The biggest race meeting of the year is held in conjunction with the Richmond Field Days, which is also run by the Richmond Turf Club.

The Clare Valley Aerodrome is located 14km from the township of Clare. In 2010, the CVFG completed parts of Stage One of the Action Plan to establish an Aerodrome for the region. Currently, a North-South 1200m x18m Runway, built to RFDS standards for aircraft 5,700kg, stands at the aerial site.

Wayne has more than 30 years experience with horses, from starting young horses to training in all disciplines (including rodeo, Reining and Stockman's Challenge) and preparing show jumping and dressage horses for some of Australia's elite riders.

In 1989 Wayne started Natural Horsemanship workshops/clinics and has hosted these throughout Australia and overseas, offering training in natural horsemanship to all riders, at all levels and ages.
